Hi Vanessa, I have some light-related links for you:
Akari lamps by Noguchi (paper shades)
http://www.surrounding.com/Products/Akari/Index.asp
Other lamps (mostly plastic shades)
http://www.optique.com.au/Lighting_floor.html
Chris and I checked out the room where the show will be, and he saw some tracks on the ceiling where you can hang things. So maybe that might be an option for you in addition or in place of a standing lamp.
What are you thinking about for a NEIGHBORWARE project? I see that you like cooking... hmmm. and sculpture.
Work with a fine artist on a sculpture project that is in between the two buildings. A special space of structure to share or connect. Maybe you make a plan to transform that wall. Turn a Gap into a Bridge. Create a beautiful pattern or typographic patten that goes from one place to another.
A cookbook and cooking event. Posters to promote.
I am taking a break from this note to look at your portfolio.
Yes. I like that you want to try something new and learn outside the class, vanessa. I printed out some of friday's photos and they are very fresh, fun and surprisingly, conceptual. So.. which design firms have you interned at?
I am considering a hands on/collage project next week. I am trying to build "making" in a spontaneous way into this class. Form and visual responses are really important to me. Welcome aboard. Can't wait to see your work.
Patty

That mapping is pretty cool. How about using that as inspiration for the mapping project for this class?
I would love it!
Your thoughts on NEIGHBORWARE?
